Another Day of Documents

Today we were allowed to view some rare primary documents, including the copy of the Declaration of Independence.  We also had a guest speaker, Pauline Maier .  She pointed out that the Declaration is more important to people than the Construction, which she feels is a little backwards.  I believe that the Declaration is so important to people because this was the beginning of breaking away from the Mother Country, and this was a very emotional topic.  The Construction sets up how our country would be ran, and the Constitution is not the first of its kind, where as the Declaration was the first time a colony in New England had successfully broken away from England.  That’s what makes it so important!
